About Compare Bond Platforms

Compare Bond Platforms is a source-linked review and comparison of every way a retail investor in India can buy a bond. We review platforms, broker apps and government channels as services, take no referral or advertising money from any of them, and do not recommend bonds.

Updated

What we cover

SEBI-registered online bond platforms, the broker apps that sell bonds, and the government channels: RBI Retail Direct, NSE goBID, RBI Floating Rate Savings Bonds and 54EC bonds. For each we record who runs it, its registration status on the NSE and BSE lists, where your bonds sit, what it charges, how you can sell, what credit range it sells and whether a regulator has penalised it. The methodology explains how.

Our money policy

We have no affiliate links, referral codes, sponsored listings, adverts or API partnerships with any platform or broker we review. Links to platforms are plain links, and we earn nothing when you follow them. We will not enlist as a distributor or Fixed Income Channel Partner for any platform.

Why we hold that line

SEBI's amendments notified on 29th Aug 2024 bar SEBI-regulated entities from associating with unregistered persons who give advice or make return claims. Every online bond platform is a registered stock broker and so is covered. The rules define association to include any transaction involving money or money's worth, client referrals and linked IT systems, and the penalty falls on the regulated entity, up to cancellation of its registration. A referral deal would put the platform at risk and our reviews in doubt. SEBI's Aug 2026 consultation on Fixed Income Channel Partners would let distributors earn commission from platforms, reportedly capped at 2.5% of the amount invested; taking that role would make us a seller, not a reviewer.

What we are not

We are not a SEBI registered investment adviser or research analyst, and nothing on this site is investment advice. We do not tell anyone to buy, sell or hold any bond. SEBI's adviser regulations define advice as advice on buying, selling or dealing in securities; our work is commentary on the intermediaries that sell them.
