Bond platform

Bondbazaar review

Bondbazaar sells G-secs, SDLs, corporate bonds and bond IPOs with low stated entry amounts and no stated brokerage. The catch is that it puts your bonds in a Bondbazaar opened CDSL demat and does not disclose any spread in the yield it shows.

What do you pay to buy a bond on Bondbazaar?

Bondbazaar says customers pay no brokerage, account opening or maintenance charges (about, FAQ). Its founder has said revenue comes mainly from issuer fees in primary issues and that secondary trading is free for retail investors (Founder Thesis). A separate Jul 2025 quote describes income as coming from both primary and secondary business, and the terms reserve the right to levy brokerage and statutory charges (review).

What Bondbazaar does not say is whether the yield you see includes a dealer margin. Its disclaimer refers to inventories offered on the platform, which points to a principal model. Comparing the same ISIN on another platform is the only way to see the gap; our FAQ on why the same bond shows a different yield explains the method.

Do you need a new demat account for Bondbazaar?

Yes. Bondbazaar's FAQ says its accounts are maintained only with CDSL and that there is currently no way to link an existing demat, so your bonds sit in a demat Bondbazaar opens for you (FAQ). It is registered as a CDSL depository participant under IN-DP-700-2022, DP ID 12096100 (about). A third-party review says bonds can be credited to a CDSL or NSDL account, which conflicts with the FAQ (review).

A second demat has costs of its own. Read do I need a new demat for every bond platform before opening one. GoldenPi and Digifinn work with the demat you already have.

Can you sell a bond before maturity on Bondbazaar?

You can sell on NSE or BSE yourself, or ask Bondbazaar's customer service team to help, at the prevailing market price and only if a buyer exists (FAQ, about). There is no buyback promise and no published sell fee.

Money sits in a wallet funded by UPI or net banking, and withdrawals take up to 2 working days. KYC needs PAN, Aadhaar, bank details and a signature on plain paper; exchange activation can take 48 hours (FAQ).

What can you buy on Bondbazaar?

The shelf covers G-secs, SDLs, corporate bonds across ratings, tax-free bonds, capital gains bonds and SGBs (Founder Thesis), plus bond IPOs and corporate bond tri-party repo; it also distributes mutual funds under ARN 302461 (about). Orders can go to the exchange order book or to RFQ (FAQ).

We found no FDs, securitised debt, commercial paper or GIFT City products. For government securities without any platform in between, compare RBI Retail Direct.

Who owns Bondbazaar, and what happened with TruCap?

Suresh Darak, a chartered accountant who ran the bond desk at L&T Financial Services for 13 years, founded Bondbazaar in 2020 and kept it bootstrapped (Founder Thesis). The board is presented under Debtlife Holdings with director Sujal Desai (about). A third-party review found that by 25th Sep 2026 the KMP page listed directors Prashant Shenoy and Sujal Desai but not Darak, with no announcement of the change (review). Tracxn reports bank borrowings above ₹90 crore; the borrowing entity is not verified (Tracxn).

When TruCap Finance defaulted in Jul 2025, Darak told Mint that Bondbazaar had disabled trading in TruCap beforehand, as reported by a third-party review (review). We found no SEBI or exchange order against Bondbazaar.
