Bond platform

SMEST review

SMEST is a BSE enabled OBPP with a large catalogue of bond pages and a relationship manager model, and it uses the demat you already have. The catch is that SMEST itself is the seller on your buy orders and publishes no fee schedule, markup or readable exit terms.

Is SMEST registered on NSE and BSE?

SMEST is registered on BSE only. SMEST Capital Pvt Ltd (SEBI INZ000302039) has been an active BSE OBPP since 20th Sep 2023 and does not appear on NSE's OBPP list dated 14th Oct 2026 (BSE list, NSE list). The company describes itself as a SEBI registered stock broker, a BSE member and a licensed OBPP, incorporated in 2018 (about).

One small mismatch: BSE's file names Tripti Bangera as compliance contact, while SMEST's escalation matrix names Khushi Rane (contact). You can check any platform yourself with our guide to checking SEBI registration.

Who are you buying from on SMEST?

You are buying from SMEST. Its terms say purchase orders settle on ICCL and describe the flow as "Client transfers fund and SMEST transfers Security" (terms). That is a principal model: the platform sells from its own book, so its earnings sit inside the price you pay. SMEST publishes no fee schedule and no statement on markup, and its FAQ answers load client side and could not be read.

If SMEST fails to deliver the bonds, its terms say ICCL refunds your money by end of day. To gauge the markup, compare the same ISIN on another platform the same day; see why the same bond shows a different yield.

What does SMEST list, and what does the shelf look like?

SMEST sells government and corporate bonds and bond IPOs, with a stated minimum of ₹10,000 (home). Its FAQ index also covers T-bills, SGBs, RBI Savings Bonds, SDLs, municipal bonds and 54EC bonds (FAQ); we did not verify live availability of each. Its bond sitemap held 9,134 bond pages on 17th Oct 2026 (sitemap).

A dated example shows why the rating on the page matters. On 17th Oct 2026 SMEST's page for a Hella Infra Market bond (INE06E507579) showed an "A" by Acuité (SMEST page), while Acuité's rating is A- and India Ratings had cut the issuer's NCDs to B+ Issuer Not Cooperating on 1st Oct 2026 (Acuité, India Ratings). From about 21st Nov 2026 SEBI's Credit Risk-o-Meter requires platforms to show the lowest rating (SEBI circular). More in credit ratings and the Credit Risk-o-Meter.

Can you sell before maturity on SMEST?

SMEST does not publish its sell terms in readable form. Its FAQ index lists a question on how to sell bonds, but the answer renders client side and could not be read, so the mechanism and any fee are unknown (FAQ). The platform advertises a dedicated relationship manager (about), and customer care is on +91 8879966072 or care@smest.in (contact).

SMEST also claims zero defaults to date and ₹5,000 crore+ of investment options (self-reported, read on 17th Oct 2026); it does not publish users, AUM or volumes (home). For how exits work on the exchange, read can I sell a bond before maturity.
