The Bond Project vs Zerodha

The Bond Project runs on top of your Zerodha account: Kite executes the order, while The Bond Project adds the bond search, order book depth, yields, ratings and cash flows that Kite does not show.

How they differ

Why compare them at all?

Because on Kite alone, buying a corporate bond means knowing its exchange symbol and reading a price with no yield beside it. The Bond Project lists the 500+ bonds on the exchange with indicative YTM, ratings from each agency, cash flow schedules and a Liquidity Indicator, then sends the order to Kite.

What you pay

Zerodha charges no brokerage on bond purchases on Kite; exchange charges, stamp duty and a DP charge on sale apply. The Bond Project adds ₹100 for 30 days or ₹500 for 1 year and nothing per order.

Custody

Identical: your Zerodha demat.

What Zerodha does without it

G-sec, T-bill and SDL primary bids through Coin, free since 1st Mar 2024. Zerodha's OBPP is listed as Not enabled on NSE as of 14th Oct 2026, so it does not sell corporate bonds through RFQ.

You create a Bond Project login and connect your Zerodha account through Kite's own login page; orders and holdings stay at Zerodha.

Does Zerodha charge brokerage on bonds?

No brokerage on bond purchases on Kite; exchange charges, stamp duty and a DP charge on sale apply.
