Bond platforms that use the demat you already have

GoldenPi, Jiraaf, Altifi, BondScanner and Digifinn settle bonds into an existing demat at any depository participant, and broker apps credit bonds to the demat you already hold with them. Wint Wealth, Stable Bonds and Bondbazaar open a demat of their own.

What we checked

  • Bonds bought on the platform settle into a demat you already hold, at any depository participant or at the broker you already use
  • Stated in the platform's own FAQ, terms or bond pages, read on 17th Oct 2026

Options that meet these criteria

Listed alphabetically. This is not a ranking.

Altifi Bond platform

Its bond pages say they are available to users with a demat at NSDL or CDSL.

BondScanner Bond platform

Its terms say the client's own NSDL or CDSL demat is used; BondScanner sells from its own inventory.

Digifinn (formerly BondsIndia) Bond platform

Its terms say your own depository account is used for pay-in and pay-out through the clearing corporation.

GoldenPi Bond platform

Bonds sit in your own demat, and its FAQ says they stay there, with interest paid to your bank, even if GoldenPi shuts.

Groww Broker app

Bonds bought through Groww settle into the demat attached to your Groww account.

Jiraaf Bond platform

Units go to your own demat at any depository participant; Jiraaf names Zerodha and Groww as examples.

Zerodha Broker app

Listed bonds bought on Kite and G-secs won in auctions sit in your Zerodha demat with your shares.

Why it matters

Several platforms now run their own depository participant, so buying there means opening a second demat. TradingQnA users report that holding more than one demat can end Basic Services Demat Account (BSDA) eligibility, which carries lower or no AMC on small holdings, and one user said Paytm Money moved an account out of BSDA for that reason. Some platforms also limit their sell route to bonds held in their own demat; Wint says so in its terms.

RBI Retail Direct is a gilt account, not a demat

RBI Retail Direct holds G-secs, T-bills and SDLs in a gilt account with RBI. A 2023 TradingQnA answer said holdings can move from a demat into Retail Direct but not out of it into a demat.

If a platform shuts down

Bonds in a demat in your name remain yours, and the issuer keeps paying interest to your bank account, as GoldenPi's FAQ describes. What can stop is a platform-only feature such as a sell-back. The issuer's credit risk is the same either way.

Questions people ask

Do I need a new demat for every bond platform?

No. GoldenPi, Jiraaf, Altifi and BondScanner use the demat you already have. Wint Wealth, Stable Bonds and Bondbazaar open their own.

Will a second demat end my BSDA status?

TradingQnA users report that holding more than one demat can end BSDA eligibility. Check with your existing broker before opening another.

Can I move bonds from a platform demat to my main demat?

Investors describe moving bonds and SGBs between demat accounts on TradingQnA. A platform's own sell route may stop applying once you do; Wint's terms limit its sell-back to bonds held in the Wint demat.
